Festival











The Palio di Siena:
The Palio di Siena (known locally simply as Il Palio) is a horse race held twice each year on July 2 and August 16 in Siena, Italy, in which ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in the appropriate colours, represent ten of the seventeen Contrade, or city wards.


Venice Carnival :
The Venice Carnival is the most internationally known festival celebrated in Venice, Italy, as well as being one of the oldest.
This congregation of masked people, called Venice Carnival, began in the 15th century, but the tradition can be traced back to the beginning of the 14th Century.
Generally, the costume worn was a cloak with a long-nosed mask.
Also popular were masked couples, where a man and a woman would dress as allegorical characters.


The Arena di Verona:
The Arena di Verona is famous for its International Opera Festival.
Every year the festival features around five operas in some 50 performances.
Performances really come alive in this fantastic venue, even if wild cats can be seen, on occasion, walking across the stage area during performances!

Pizza is one of the most famous food in Italy.
Above picture is Pizza Margherita. It is crunch and a little salty.
And Italy is production country of Wine and grapes are grown all area because there is mild climate.
In addition to Pizza risotto, gnocchi, pasta, bread and coffee are famous foods in Italy.

Football:
This is by far the most popular sport in Italy in terms of participation as well as spectators. The country has had the honor of holding the football world cup for four times in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006 respectively. It is the current world champion and over the years the Italian national team has won the European Nations cup once and is credited with a gold medal in the Olympic Games.

Auto Racing:
Given the fact that Italy produces some of the world’s finest sports cars it is no surprise that Auto Racing is one of the county’s favorite games to indulge in. The nation plays host to a number of racing events such as the famous Italian Grand Prix.

Besides, motercycle racing, rugby union and league, basketball, volleyball, cycling, athletics and roller hockey are traditional sports.

Scopa ("to sweep" in Italian) is one of the most popular card games in Italy.
Nearly everyone in Italy has played it at least once in their life, and in small towns it is still common to see people gathered around a table where four elderly are exchanging swear words and bantering over a heated game of Scopa.
The game of Scopa may be easy to learn, but it is difficult to master. Traditionally it is played with a deck of Neapolitan cards.

English and the English education in Italy




Italy's official language is Italian.
An Italian start learning English when they are 8 .
They don't speak English very well because English education in Italy focused mainly on teaching grammatical rules.
Like Korea, Italian uaually speak broken English in other words, pseudo anglicism.
Recently learning English creates a boom among the italian. Because it is a common belief that English have a good influence on good jop and the best universities. So many people look for English language academies or go overseas on costly training programs and children are admitted to foreign schools.

Italy


We choose Italy because it has many magnificent example's of archtectures like the Colosseum. The flag means freedom, equality, charity. Each color has a meaning. Green is beautiful territory. White is sonw in the Alps and also means justice and peace of mind. Red is hot blood of patriotism.


Economy>

According to the International Monetary Fund, in 2008 Italy was the seventh-largest economy in the world and the fourth-largest in Europe.Italy is member of the Group of Eight (G8) industrialized nations, the European Union and the OECD. The Italian economy is weakened by the lack of infrastructure development, market reforms and research investment, and also high public deficit. Italy's major exports and companies by sector are motor vehicles.The automotive industry makes a significant contribution of 8.5% to Italian GDP.


Climate>

The climate of Italy is highly diverse and can be far from the stereotypical Mediterranean climate, depending on location. Most of the inland northern regions of Italy have a continental climate often classified as humid subtropical.


Population>

At the end of 2008, the Italian population surpassed 60 million. Italy has the fourth-largest population in the European Union and the 23rd-largest population worldwide. Thanks mainly to the massive immigration of the last two decades, in the 2000s, Italy experienced a growth in the crude birth rate for the first time in many years.
